Two of the traditional audiovisual technologies that can benefit a classroom would be a tape recorder (audio) and a VCR (video) and two emerging audiovisual technologies that can benefit a classroom are e-books (audio) and computer displays (visual).
Traditional:
-One thing that I remember in Elementary School was gym class and my favorite part was learning different dances. Using a VCR to play a movie is a great way for kids to learn something and at the same time is something that will keep their attention. Having the kids set up inform of a television and watch a step by step informational will help them because the tempo would be slow and if a decent amount of students are having trouble you always have the option of stopping, rewinding, and playing each step back to ensure full understanding and at the same time the children are doing something that is fun and enjoyable.
-With a tape recorder you can do so much but the one thing that I would use it for would make things fun. One thing you could is play games such as musical chairs in a way; playing music for a period of time while students try to complete a task as fast as possible. Being a fan of math I would do something with that subject. Having children get in teams you could play games and during a period of time while the music is playing you could have the students race and see who could get a problem correct and in the fastest time. Somewhat like a relay race and every round you have another teammate go to the board. Doing this will help students get excited and motivated to not only get involved but actually want to get the correct answer.
Emerging:
-Using e-books has always been something that I have been a fan of and using them in classrooms just makes everything better. Because kids are not that excited about reading teachers need to make things more exciting and inviting. I would think that when teachers say its reading time the one thing kids hate more is picking out a book and having to act like they are reading. But because kids now a days are excited about technology and playing with something new having them read with e-books could encourage them when it is time to do class readings so that they want to read out loud.
-Computers are just an all around beneficial technology that can do so much in an educational setting. I know that kids always want to learn more and have fun when they are set up with something that is new and to most kids computers are exciting and new. Setting kids up on computers to participate in educational programs that are animated, fun, and interactive will help kids get more involved in their education.

Teaching with technology
I think that personally technology can benefit a classroom more than making it a place of negativity. When I think of technology I don’t just think of things such as computers, iPods, and iPads, which normally comes to mind first, I think of the ever day aspect of the classroom. Calculators, overhead projectors, SMART boards, and ELMOs are just some of the technological resources that you see in the average classroom that affects students and teachers in a positive way. Even though these resources are not ones that students will have “fun” with they do more than they think. These forms of technology assists teachers to make their lessons more eventful which will get students more engaged which in the long run will make a student’s learning experience more enjoyable and possible get more out of it. I would much rather teach in a classroom that has technology integrated into the classrooms because like I said before, technology benefits more than having a few distractions.
